Meet Poncho! He's a very sweet 2.5 year old Sheltie-Duck tolling retreiver mix who loves to run. He is proficient in over 15 commands, house trained, leash trained, bike trained, does well at the vet, crate trained, muzzle trained, and is well socialized with other dogs. Poncho is looking for a quiet home with teenage or older children. He would prefer all the love to himself but could also do well paired with a confident female dog. Poncho has "stranger danger" and can be fear reactive when triggers are stacked. He also has barrier frustration when put behind gates or doors. Poncho would be a great fit for someone with an active lifestyle, he loves to move, does well in the car, and is very cuddly. He's been temperament trained through pets alone at times, he loves them that much.

Poncho was found tied to a tree with his sisters as a 6-month-old puppy, causing stranger danger and anxiety when "stuck". He's worked with a behavioralist for the last two years and is finally ready for his forever home. Poncho's behavioralist is willing to work closely with Poncho's new family as he transitions into his new home, free of charge.

Please begin the process for adoption by reading our Adoption Policies and, if we sound like the right group for you, fill out our online Adoption Application. From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously.  Please put a lot of thought into why you want to adopt a dog, and help us make a good match for your family. We appreciate your taking the time to visit with us. We will look forward to hearing from you as well.
