Volunteer Opportunities

Make a Difference

You can help our rescued dogs by becoming a RMCSR volunteer. Volunteers are the heart of our organization and a key reason we’re able to care for so many Collies and Shelties throughout the year. Our volunteers donate whatever time and skill they can, working to provide our dogs with lots of love and a healthy, happy life. We have no paid staff, so volunteers are critical to the success of our rescue efforts.

Would you like to volunteer in some capacity? Something as simple as posting a flyer about Rocky Mountain Collie and Sheltie Rescue at your place of work will help us spread the word. How about taking a rescue dog for a walk? Some of our dogs stay temporarily in vet kennels until a foster home or permanent home can be found. They would love to go for a walk and get some yummy attention. We’d be happy to talk with you and share ideas.

There are so many ways to volunteer. Consider lending a hand with some of the activities below:

  • Walking / Exercising Dogs
  • Showing Dogs at Events
  • Transporting / Picking Up Rescue Dogs
  • Grooming
  • Helping With Event Organization
  • Typing / Letter Writing
  • Grant Writing
  • Fund Raising
  • Marketing / Public Relations
  • Newsletter Writing / Formatting
  • Creative Writing
  • Photography
  • Artwork (Posters/Displays/etc.)
  • Electrical Work
  • Plumbing
  • Carpentry
  • Handy Man
  • Painting
  • Yard Work

Or let your imagination, skills and talents be your volunteering guide.

Volunteer Requirements

You must be at least 18 years old to work one on one with our dogs. If you’re younger than 18 and still want to help out, you’re more than welcome but only in the presence and guidance of your volunteer parents. T here are many other ways younger volunteers can contribute.

Volunteering for various tasks and projects is a great way to impact the lives of dogs who desperately need our love and devotion. We hope you’ll contact us and join our team of compassionate volunteers at Rocky Mountain Collie and Sheltie Rescue. Please complete our Volunteer Application Volunteer Application and get started today.

I Have Done Something
I looked at all the caged animals in the shelter…the cast-offs of human society.
I saw in their eyes love and hope, fear and dread, sadness, and betrayal. And I was angry.
“God,” I said, “this is terrible! Why don’t you do something?”
God was silent for a moment, and then He spoke softly, “I have done something,” he replied. “I created you.”

Other Ways You Can Help

If you are not able to volunteer, there are other ways that you can help. We are always in need of supplies and equipment for our foster dogs, and, of course, you can adopt a dog! Please visit these pages for more information about donating and adopting:
