"Apache" is a 1 year-old 15#, neutered male bi-black Sheltie. He came to us badly malnourished directly from a puppy mill in Missouri through our good friends at National Mill Dog Rescue. He has received all of the appropriate vaccines including lepto and is microchipped with a Home Again chip and a lifetime spot in their national database.
Apache is good with men, women and well-mannered kids over 10. He is 95% housebroken and is very smart. He has learned to sit, dow...n and cuddle. He absolutely adores toys and will fetch a ball or a squeakie toy (and actually bring them back) until you beg for mercy. His coat is looking so much better after only two weeks on a quality puppy diet and multiple baths. And he taught himself the doggie door when he saw my dogs walk through a wall. His leash manners are getting better but he may never be safe off leash as he wants to chase after vehicles.
But Apache does not want to share his home or his life with other dogs. Perhaps after his short life of deprivation, he just figures he deserves to have it all. And so we will respect his wishes and place him in a home where he will be the center of attention always. So please only apply for Apache if you are willing to be a one dog household.
You will laugh at his puppy antics. And he will be your best friend. Just remember to put your shoes in the closet. After all, he is still a baby.

Please begin the process for adoption by reading our Adoption Policies and, if we sound like the right group for you, fill out our online Adoption Application. From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously.  Please put a lot of thought into why you want to adopt a dog, and help us make a good match for your family. We appreciate your taking the time to visit with us. We will look forward to hearing from you as well.
