Rufus is about 3 years old, neutered and up to date on his vaccines. His HomeAgain microchip is active and his adoption includes a lifetime spot in a national database. He is a rangy 86 pounds and moves like a dream sequence when he runs. And he is wonderfully housebroken, with or without a dog door. Rufus startles easily and his foster family is working to resolve some insecurities. His quirky personality will not endear him to just anyone. He has been known to grumble and talk trash to other big dogs. But he does not mean anything by it. The right family will love him for his unusual traits. Our favorite trainer Ed Russell also has us going in and out of box stores like Lowes to interact with lots of humans and to reassure Rufus that big objects will not hurt him.
Please begin the process for adoption by reading our Adoption Policies and, if we sound like the right group for you, fill out our online Adoption Application. From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously. Please put a lot of thought into why you want to adopt a dog, and help us make a good match for your family. We appreciate your taking the time to visit with us. We will look forward to hearing from you as well.
