About Tanner

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Sable
  • Housetrained: Yes
Get a load of “Tanner.” He is a glorious 7-month-old purebred collie pup that came into Pueblo Collie & Sheltie Rescue through an owner relinquishment. His clear sable and white coat is puppy soft and responding beautifully to good quality kibble. He is sweet and energetic in a totally appropriate way for a dog of his age. Tanner does well with other dogs of varying ages and sizes and is quite curious about the resident cat in his foster home. We will be placing him in a home with children over 8-ish. He would be a little too rambunctious for toddlers but well behaved children would be a joy in his life. Once again, collies and kids! There is nothing better. Tanner is smart and very trainable. His housebreaking took only four days with good positive reinforcement and no yelling. He is curious about his surroundings especially since he does not have a lot of house experience. Dog toys are way cool in his life! Car rides, cuddling, a walk . . . all the things we expose our beloved dogs to and our dogs take for granted. Great owners do these things to make their dog’s lives as good as they possibly can be. And Tanner is playing catch-up. We will make sure that he continues to have great experiences for his lifetime. Puppies need and deserve to have a family revolve around them. It is a huge part of the way children thrive too, with a lot of stimulation and encouragement. So, let’s put our heads together and find the perfect family for this lovely pup. Adults who are home a lot, maybe someone that works from home. 4-H activities begin with the start of school. Tanner would make a fabulous 4-H dog. We screen very carefully for just the right match for each dog in our program. And we are even more cautious with young dogs that are already needing to be rehomed at their tender ages. Please read the adoption information section on our website and then fill out the online application. We will process your app as quickly as possible and chat with you by phone if we feel you may be a good candidate for Tanner. Thanks for checking in with us and caring about dogs that need and deserve love.

Please begin the process for adoption by reading our Adoption Policies and, if we sound like the right group for you, fill out our online Adoption Application. From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously.  Please put a lot of thought into why you want to adopt a dog, and help us make a good match for your family. We appreciate your taking the time to visit with us. We will look forward to hearing from you as well.
