About Mandy

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Housetrained: Yes
Mandy came into rescue with her brother, Cody. She's a 3-year-old sable and white smooth coated Collie. Her human guardian was forced by divorce to find a place for these two beauties, so they came here, to Collie-Rado, where we have the privilege of finding them a forever home. Mandy is a slender collie girl, with the most endearing trait of always offering her paw when she wants attention. She LOVES a good walk, and to chase the other dogs around the yard. She is the alpha dog without a doubt, so would be best placed with a more submissive friend. She's a thinker, and seems to be quite smart. Mandy always seems to be carefully considering the situation around her. She's VERY aware and tries very hard to be a good guard dog. Given that, she's not excessively "barkey." She talks when she feels her humans need to know something, but is happily quiet and laid-back when all is well. She does chase kitties, but just for fun, not to harm. However, she should go to a home with either no cats or very confident cats. She does know some basic obedience, but would need a refresher. This girl might very much so enjoy some of the more "independent" dog sports, such as tracking or herding. When you look at her, her intelligence is apparent, and she'd love to be able to use it. Nearly any home would be blessed by Mandy or her brother, Cody. These are truly special dogs, and have many years left with which they can grace the lives of their humans.

Please begin the process for adoption by reading our Adoption Policies and, if we sound like the right group for you, fill out our online Adoption Application. From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously.  Please put a lot of thought into why you want to adopt a dog, and help us make a good match for your family. We appreciate your taking the time to visit with us. We will look forward to hearing from you as well.
