Little Sammie is a darling, one-year-old neutered male tri-colored sheltie. He came to us as an owner relinquishment without any veterinary care. We have completed all his vaccines and he is microchipped with a Home Again microchip. He is also heartworm negative and has great pre-anesthetic bloodwork. Add in the fact that he is housebroken and you will see that he is in "move in condition."
Little Sammie has a good heart and an even disposition. But this is not a worldly dog. He has some lessons to be learned to prove to him that humans are kind. He sleeps with his foster dad, on the bed, snuggling until morning when he flies outside to go potty. Treats are offered several times a day just to reinforce the "human touch." And when Sammie has something to say, he does not hesitate. He barks and it sounds like a machine engine revving up. This is a pup that will enjoy the comraderie of an older brother or sister to keep him foscused and show him the ropes, especially when it comes to play So we will be looking for a home for him with another sheltie or sheltie-sized pal, either male or female. It is likely that he will always startle at loud noises and strange sounds. Shelties that have not been well socialized from their early days may never be brave. But Sammie is a survivor and is ready to show us all what he is made of.

You will receive an acknowledgment from a Board member and a phone call from our Director if you are a possible match for one of our dogs. We do check references and do a home visit as we move forward. And you will have a ton of questions about the dog that only a foster family can answer. That is why we use foster families. From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously.
