There has never been a more loyal and true companion than Chloe. She is a 4-year-old, 36# spayed female Sheltie mixed with a touch of something extra. Perhaps it is Aussie or Border Collie. Perhaps Keeshond, at least that would account for her unusual markings. When we look at who Chloe is rather than what Chloe is . . . we will have a much better glimpse into this remarkable dog. Chloe’s mom fought hard to survive cancer. She even tried some experimental chemotherapies to try to stay with Chloe, who was her most cherished friend. And sweet Chloe would have laid down her life for her mom, if that would have helped. They had the quintessential human/animal bond that we only read about, for the most part. Tandy’s friends stepped in after her death and kept Chloe safe while they looked for the right place for her. But that is harder than it looks. When Chloe looks into a human’s eyes, she seems to be searching into their soul. And she deserves someone as wonderful as Tandy was. That is the person we are looking for. ChloeWhat Chloe wants is one human to be her “everything.” In her foster home, Chloe enjoys the company of men, women and children, but just one or two at a time, not a crowd. She is one of the smartest dogs we have ever met, much smarter than your average Collie or Sheltie. (I can’t believe I just wrote that!) She can . . . sit, stay, off, down, shake with right or left paw, high five with right or left paw, play dead, choose any one particular toy by name, fetch, catch in mid-air….and probably cook a five course dinner with one paw tied behind her back. She enjoys watching Animal Planet and I am told can put down the electric windows of a car. Chloe will carry around her toys and push them at you, hoping for a game of some kind. She does the same thing with other dogs while verbalizing (I would call it trash talking.) but many dogs don’t understand what she is asking for. For these important reasons, we will be looking for an “only dog” placement. And remember that the chosen person will have to be spectacular!
