About Kansas

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Sable
  • Housetrained: Yes
Meet Kansas, the glorious sable and white rough Collie. He is a 7-year-old neutered male that is active and funny and full of joy. His owner adored him but circumstances were such that she asked us to re-home him. He arrived looking a bit like an unmade bed and he obviously needed a professional groomer. What a handsome fellow he is now! Kansas has always had loving care and in return, he has all the wonderful traits of his breed. His good with men, women and children (of course). He has lovely manners although he does not know many commands. He has a sense of humor and loves to share his fun-loving nature. When asked to sing . . . he howls. If you have a conversation with him, he chimes in with “grrr, woof, snort, rrr-rrr-rrr, woo-woo-woo.” When you speak back to him, he tips his big sweet head and goes “ru-rah?” Those of you who have been lucky enough to have a Collie like this know exactly what I am talking about. And the rest of you just don’t know what you are missing.Kansas At 66#, down from 70#, Kansas is fit and young for his age. He arrived already neutered and up to date on vaccines so the available dollars were spent on a heartworm test, blood chemistries and CBC and a complete dental cleaning and polishing with one minor extraction. He is housebroken and taught himself the doggie door in a heartbeat. Nothing makes him smile like a cuddle on the sofa and the prospect of a movie night. Please begin the process for adoption by reading our Policies and Guidelines and, if we sound like the right group for you, proceed to the online Adoption Application. From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously. Please put a lot of thought into why you want to adopt a dog, and help us make a good match for your family. We appreciate your taking the time to visit with us. We will look forward to hearing from you as well.
