THIS SHELTIE IS A PUPPY MILL SURVIVOR.  IT WILL TAKE TIME AND PATIENCE FOR HIM TO BEHAVE LIKE A "REAL DOG."  IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE TIME OR THE PATIENCE, PLEASE LOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE FOR A DOG.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO LEARN MORE ABOUT UNDERSOCIALIZED DOGS AND HOW TO HELP THEM REHAB, YOU HAVE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE.

A COMPLETED APPLICATION IS OUR FIRST STEP TOWARD FOSTERING OR ADOPTING.  YOU WILL FIND IT ON OUR WEBSITE AT www.colliesheltierescue.org.

Bruce is the name of this 17#, 4-year-old mahogany sable Sheltie.  His is shy with new people but warms up quickly when he discovers they are at the other end of his leash.  He loves to go for walks!  You ask, "How is this possible for a puppy mill dog?"  We have no idea but it is true.  He troops right along at whatever pace you set, watching your face for indications that you want to change direction or stop for a chat and a Lean Treat.

Bruce's general health is good, just mildly anemic.  A decent diet should take care of that.  He is not as malnourished as some of the other Shelties that came in with this bunch.  His vaccine protocol is completed, he is heartworm negative and his bloodwork is A-okay.  He has not been neutered yet but it will happen with your personal Veterinarian and we pay for it.  He is microchipped with a Home Again chip and will have a lifetime database entry.

Only previous Sheltie owners will be considered for the adoption of Bruce.  He deserves to be understood and accepted for who he is.  And only a passionate sheltie lover will be able to bring him along to be the best little fellow he can be.  Sheltie folks are the best!

Please begin the process for adoption by reading our Adoption Policies and, if we sound like the right group for you, fill out our online Adoption Application. From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously.  Please put a lot of thought into why you want to adopt a dog, and help us make a good match for your family. We appreciate your taking the time to visit with us. We will look forward to hearing from you as well.
