A COMPLETED APPLICATION IS OUR FIRST STEP TOWARD ANY ADOPTION.  YOU WILL FIND THE APP ON OUR WBSITE AT www.colliesheltierescue.org.  WITHOUT A COMPLETED APPLICATION, WE HAVE NO WAY TO START A CONVERSATION.

Sparkle is a sweet and cuddly six month old female rough Collie puppy.  Her fur is a glorious shade of honey sable and she has a full white ruff and four white feet.  We are certain she will grow up to be at least as pretty as Lassie.  Sparkle came to us from a farm in Nebraska where she spent all her time running and playing with her siblings and parents.  When it was time to eat and sleep, she did so with her entire family.

Housebreaking and indoor manners are fairly new to her but her foster parents say that she is smart and learns things readily.  She adores other dogs but may be too rowdy for older canine companions or small breed dogs.  Another fun good-sized puppy or young adult would be just right as a buddy for Sparkle.  She will play for a couple of hours and then crash on a comfy dogbed for a nap.  And then do it all over again.

Sweet Sparkle has all of her vaccines and is microchipped with a Home Again microchip that will include a lifetime database registration.  She will be spayed (we will pay for it and it is mandatory) at around 1 year of age to allow her body to benefit from the growth from her hormones.  She is vibrant and robust and needs to remain on a large breed puppy formula dog food until she is 12-18 months old.

Having a Collie in your life is a wonderful experience!  The breed is intelligent and intuitive and will become a lifelong pal to your entire family.  Only those with Collie experience will be considered for this girl.  You must have an excellent reference from your Veterinarian and a securely fenced yard.  We will limit applications to Colorado only for this youngster.

Please begin the process for adoption by reading our Adoption Policies and, if we sound like the right group for you, fill out our online Adoption Application. From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously.  Please put a lot of thought into why you want to adopt a dog, and help us make a good match for your family. We appreciate your taking the time to visit with us.
