A COMPLETED APPLICATION IS OUR FIRST STEP.  YOU WILL FIND IT ON OUR WEBSITE AT www.colliesheltierescue.org.  WE NEED A PLACE TO START FOR A CONVERSATION ABOUT ANY OF OUR ADOPTABLE DOGS.  THANKS FOR UNDERSTANDING.  AND DO SOME READING ABOUT THIS BREED BEFORE APPLYING.  THEY HAVE A LEVEL OF DRIVE THAT IS MUCH DIFFERENT THAN OUR RELAXED COLLIES AND SHELTIES.

Teddy is an absolute Teddy Bear of a dog!  He is a 5-year-old neutered male purebred English Shepherd. He is snuggly and soft with a calm and quiet demeanor.  But don't think that makes him any less high energy when it is time for fun.  He likes to sit on your feet to make sure he knows when you are going somewhere.  And is quite congenial with female dogs but might prefer no brothers.

English Shepherds are "country cousins" to Collies, Shelties and Aussies.  They are usually reserved and cautious around new people.  So you will need to create experiences that help Teddy develop confidence in himself and create a safe bond with his new family.  Teddy has grown up on a small ranch and will need some additional training to complete his Canine Good Citizen and help him navigate his new life with compassion, understanding, dedication and love.  He will do his part if you will meet him half-way.

In the few days that Teddy has been with RMCSR, he has shown himself to be quite a character.  He adores hugs and will cuddle with his back to you so that you can wrap your arms around him.  He gives off a secure vibe that he would stand between you and any danger that came your way.  Not in a scary way at all.  Teddy Bear is extremely sensitive to your emotions and therefore needs soft and gentle humans.

Teddy is UTD on all vaccines and is microchipped with a Home Again.  He is heartworm negative and his blood chemistries and CBC are all normal.  He has not had any potty issues at his foster mom's house.  And has shown himself to be one of those fabulous "who is a good boy" dogs.

All of our standard requirements apply.  Fenced yard, great reference from your vet, home visit and a pledge to love, honor and cherish.

Please begin the process for adoption by reading our Adoption Policies and, if we sound like the right group for you, fill out our online Adoption Application. From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously.  Please put a lot of thought into why you want to adopt a dog, and help us make a good match for your family. We appreciate your taking the time to visit with us. We will look forward to hearing from you as well.
