Collies are the most remarkable dogs.  They are gentle and intuitive with all humans, old and young.  And beautiful Kali is certainly no exception.  She is a 7-year-old spayed female mahogany sable and white rough-coated Collie.  "Lassie" was similar in coloring and structure to Kali.  But Kali is better looking.  Lassie, eat your heart out!  LOL

Wakala's Lovesong (Kali's registered name) is a glorious dog that is smart and capable of all sorts of canine activities that will make her owner look like a genius.  She holds a Rally novice title (you may need to look that one up), a CGC (Canine Good Citizen, that makes her welcome in all kinds of public places) and has championship conformation points as well.  She is gentle and affectionate, loves to give kisses and may sit in your lap if given the opportunity.  Wanna take a walk?  You bet!  Car ride?  Let's go!  A swim or a bike ride?  Yup!  She will wake you in the morning with a touch of her cold nose but if you want to snooze a little longer, just invite her up for a cuddle.

Kali tends to be a ravenous eater and will need to have carefully measured meals twice a day with lowfat treats like baby carrots or green beans.  Losing another five pounds or so will keep her younger longer and the exciting activities of a fabulous owner will help to keep her fit as well.  She adores other dogs, cats and all humans.  But....no chickens!  She lost her happy home over an injured chicken.  (I must say that I don't know if any of my own dogs would be safe with a chicken.)

We would not place Kali where she would be a dog in a yard with nothing to do.  She wants a "big life" and she is just the dog to have that.  She would be a magnificent therapy dog or a full-time companion in a one-on-one relationship with a loving person who needs a best friend.  She will listen to your troubles and never reveal your secrets.  She will watch your face intently and tip her head as if to ask how she can help.  Those are only a few of the qualities that make Collies the best dogs in the whole world.

Please don't tell the Shelties I said that.

Please begin the process for adoption by reading our Adoption Policies and, if we sound like the right group for you, fill out our online Adoption Application. From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously.  Please put a lot of thought into why you want to adopt a dog, and help us make a good match for your family. We appreciate your taking the time to visit with us. We will look forward to hearing from you as well.
