Wyoming Buddy is an older gentleman, a rough Collie, who's around 10 years old.  He is a friendly fellow and enjoys the company of men and women equally. We would not want to place Buddy with very young children because he's an older guy.

Buddy is content to relax and lounge around the house unless someone picks up his leash.  And then....it's all "Wow, let's go!"  He enjoys car rides to anywhere; wherever you wanna go, he is there!  On walks, he saunters for a mile or so at a relaxed pace with his favorite humans and a couple of companion pooches. One of his favorite pastimes, though, is to just lay on the porch and watch over his domain, weather permitting, very much like the big white sheepdog in the old Bugs Bunny cartoons who's watching over his sheep! But if a pesky squirrel or antelope (remember, this is Wyoming) should drop by unexpectedly, he will dash to the fence line to remind them that he is on duty to protect his loved ones. (No one has bothered to tell him that we humans aren't much scared of squirrels!)

Buddy's health is good for a fellow of his years.  He is heartworm negative, up to date on all vaccines, neutered and just had a dental cleaning with no extractions.  What a good boy!! He has a touch of arthritis (as is frequent with Collies) but takes supplements to help with that.  Buddy needs a little boost to get in and out of the car, but so do I these days! And he doesn't know many commands. Then again, that could be just a little selective hearing.

Wyoming Buddy will make you glad every day that you brought him into your life.  That's one of the best things about adopting a senior dog: they are gracious and loving.  And they will gladly share their wisdom with their new friends.  We humans just need to slow down enough to listen to it. Bottom line: Senior dogs are the absolute best - and Buddy is the best of the best!

Please begin the process for adoption by reading our Adoption Policies and, if we sound like the right group for you, fill out our online Adoption Application. From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously.  Please put a lot of thought into why you want to adopt a dog, and help us make a good match for your family. We appreciate your taking the time to visit with us. We will look forward to hearing from you as well.
