Sheldon is a neutered male senior Sheltie (10-ish) with a young spirit. He came to us from a shelter in the midwest where they try every day to place every dog. It is a daunting task and we are always proud to partner with shelters that have these positive goals.

Sheldon is equally good with men and women, other dogs of all sizes and ages and children over 8. He is eating a grain free kibble and thriving on it. His 30 pound frame is just right and his energy is fabulous. He would enjoy a relaxing walk a couple of times a day, a ride to the local feed store in the car (preferably on the front seat) and a Turner Classics movie in the evening. He loves a comfy dogbed and always helps me when I am on the computer. Just now, he has his head on my left foot so that if I get up to do something else, he will be the first to know.

Sheldon had a very extensive dental and lost 27 teeth in the process. Some were broken and others just plain nasty. Shelties are notorious for having crummy teeth. We should be vigilant in preserving their good dental health by brushing their teeth and scheduling regular well dog check-ups.

And please remember that there is a special place in Heaven for those humans who give their love to a senior dog.

Please begin the process for adoption by reading our Adoption Policies and, if we sound like the right group for you, fill out our online  Adoption Application.  From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously. Please put a lot of thought into why you want to adopt a dog, and help us make a good match for your family. We appreciate your taking the time to visit with us. We look forward to hearing from you as well.
