You are looking at one of what we call a "little interloper." An interloper, at our rescue, is a dog who is not a Collie or a Sheltie who has nowhere to go. The manager of a local no-kill shelter called and asked us to consider taking Chance because he would not eat or drink and was rapidly becoming depressed in a kennel situation.

Second Chance is this young man’s name because that is what he needs. He is a young and very active neutered male Shepherd/Husky mix (that is our
guess, other opinions are welcome!) If you squint as you look at his face, I bet you can see some Collie in there? LOL! He is up to date on vaccines, is heartworm negative and has great baseline bloodwork. Someone once loved this 64 pound lap dog. He is housebroken and loves to go for walks and rides. He practically turns himself inside out to please you, and then he ducks between your legs from the back, looks up and gives you a huge, goofy puppy smile.

Chance needs a dog savvy owner so that he does not rule the roost. We always suggest at least an introductory course of obedience training. Group classes are fun and you may meet some wonderful new friends along the way, both human and doggie.

Chance runs faster than any Collie or Sheltie we have ever met. If he had the right family, he could dazzle crowds at an agility trial or dance rings around his human at a freestyle competition. Or he would be happy just being the center of attention with his kids and going camping. Dogs adapt to their people. But Chance wants to have a big life. He has missed out on some fun in his past and intends to make up for it in his future!

From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process.
