About Molly

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Gray
  • Housetrained: Yes
"Calico Molly" is one of the luckiest dogs of the year. At six months of age, she left a neglectful life of crummy food and little attention and headed for the bright lights of Pueblo Collie & Sheltie Rescue. She has settled into her foster home very nicely with another collie (Dr. Seuss, for those who would remember him) and a black lab to show her the ropes. She has just been spayed and is up to date on all vaccines, is heartworm negative and miocrochipped with a Home Again chip. Little Molly is blooming with all the good things she almost missed out on. She is 95% housebroken and only needs a gentle reminder to ring the bell on the back door to go out and go potty. Her puppy energy is being channeled well into constructive play and she has appropriate toys and chewies. Nobody has more fun than Molly! She is affectionate with adults and children but we will not place her with children under the age of 10. Younger kids might be bowled over by her enthusiastic play. She still gets startled occasionally by sudden movement and loud noises but she is getting better as her interaction with the world increases and she becomes more confident. Molly will do well in a home where people will spend a lot of time and care with her training. She will excel in a puppy obedience class and that will be the basis for her becoming a devoted companion and the fulfillment of a classic collie. Smart, beautiful, loyal, bonded...all of the traits that we identify with Lassie. The right family will be almost as lucky as Calico Molly. In the words of her foster mom...."Molly would NOT do well in a home where she was left alone for much of the day, where she would be chosen only for her good looks, or where her magnificent collie intelligence would languish from lack of training and lack of purpose. Collies are very special dogs indeed and will thrive in homes where their masters recognize their gifts and fully value them." Please go to our website at www.pueblocolliesheltie.org and read through the adoption information section and, if we seem like a good fit for your family, proceed to the online application. Our breed specific rescue is blessed to have multiple applicants for each dog and we will choose the most wonderful potential match for every one of them. Someone will acknowledge your application by e-mail and we will then start the screening process. If we feel that you are a viable candidate for a dog, we will call your veterinarian for a reference and one of our wonderful volunteers will come and do a home visit. Please don't be offended by this. It is in the best interests of a dog for humans to do the footwork to make a good match. "Calico Molly" is waiting for the happiest thing a dog can ask for this holiday season, a loving fur-ever home.

Please begin the process for adoption by reading our Adoption Policies and, if we sound like the right group for you, fill out our online Adoption Application. From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously.  Please put a lot of thought into why you want to adopt a dog, and help us make a good match for your family. We appreciate your taking the time to visit with us.
