About Pepper

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Tricolor (Tan/Brown & Black & White)
  • Housetrained: Yes
Pepper is a quiet and gentle-natured 2-year-old neutered male rough coated Collie. Sadly, he has not yet had the right long-term loving home. Because of that fact, he is a bit reserved and shy around people and sometimes would prefer to be on his own. He just needs to be sure of love and attention from his humans. He does well with his foster dog siblings and enjoys their leadership while they are teaching him how to be a dog! Pepper is playful with young dogs and reserved with the older dogs. He loves being out in the yard and on walks especially when there is clean white snow to be eaten. This pooch is not at all aggressive and has never displayed anything but kindness and love. He may find children (especially young ones) a little overwhelming. He is not a jumper but does truly enjoy having room to run and be a real dog. He is not as comfortable inside the house yet, but is learning about the joys of sitting on the couch just to be near you. Pepper does well on walks and manages to do his business without a lot of marking and sniffing. He may be an ideal companion to go on a jog with or take a long walk. Pepper is not much of a talker but does have something to say if someone comes near his yard with another dog. Pepper is only 45# and will probably put on a few pounds as he gets used to a better quality food. He is heartworm negative, up to date on his shots, has beautiful white teeth and an absolutely gorgeous coat. Pepper is housebroken and will let you know when he needs to go outside. But if you don’t get to him rather quickly you may have a cleanup on your hands. It should be understood that when a dog is placed in a new home, because of stress and confusion over a new place, there could be some regression in behavior. Please be patient with him. A sweet Collie companion and lifelong friend is worth the investment! Please begin the process for adoption by going to our website at www.colliesheltierescue.org, reading our Policies and Guidelines and, if we sound like the right group for you, proceed to the online Adoption Application. From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously. Please put a lot of thought into why you want to adopt a dog, and help us make a good match for your family. We appreciate your taking the time to visit with us. We will look forward to hearing from you as well.
